How I lost Weight Without Dieting

An Obese Overweight Woman
Some months ago I visited my doctor complaining of tiredness. One of the checks she did on me was a body mass test. I was shocked when she told me I was an obese overweight woman and on the way to becoming glucose intolerant. At first I was offended as I thought that I was only slightly overweight. After all, I had borne 3 children and my being slightly overweight had remained about the same for a few years. But on reflection, I had to admit that I was an obese overweight woman and realized I had to find out the best way to lose weight fast.
Like a lot of overweight people, I had tried dieting over the years with limited success. I had no sooner lost weight, it seemed, than I put it back on again soon afterwards. After doing some research for a better plan, I learnt that when you diet your body reacts to having fewer calories by slowing down your metabolism. If you don’t exercise at the same time as dieting, you will lose muscle as well as fat and water. As soon as you lose muscle, your metabolism slows down even more so that to continue to lose weight you would need to eat fewer calories each day – an impossible task long term.
I find inspiration from Healthy Inspirations
Soon afterwards I spotted a newspaper item on ‘Healthy Inspirations’, a weight loss program that avoids dieting and concentrates on getting rid of junk food from your food agenda and replacing that with healthy food and sensible eating – eating the right foods at the right time. The program includes an exercise supervised routine with special machines designed for women of all ages. I thought that this, then, could be the best way to lose weight fast.
Healthy Inspirations is aware that intense aerobic work-outs can be dangerous. When you over-exert yourself your breathing and heart rate are elevated and your body will burn mainly carbohydrates. Whereas slightly elevating breathing and heart rate through moderate exercise will burn stored body fat. The main focus with Healthy Inspirations was moderate resistance training.
Healthy Inspirations certainly had my interest and once I established their program was the only program available that incorporated the three essential strategies for effective weight loss: correct eating style, exercise and high frequency coaching, I eagerly joined.
My husband introduces me to walking
A couple of weeks after joining Healthy Inspirations, my husband was also motivated to lose weight and decided to take up walking. As he started to peel off the pounds, I decided to incorporate walking into my schedule. This was a first for me as I had never done any serious walking in my life before. As Healthy Inspirations recommended doing around 10,000 steps daily, I thought walking would easily enable me to achieve that. Besides, here was another healthy way to lose weight.
My first goal achieved – I lose 10 kg (22 lbs) in 9 weeks
It didn’t take long to see that my combination of the Healthy Inspirations program and the walking was paying dividends. I lost 10 kg (22lbs) and a total of 36.5 cm (14.4 inches) off neck, arm, bust, waist, hips, thighs after 9 weeks on the program.
My second goal achieved – I lose a further 6 kg (13.2 lbs)
I was enjoying my new eating style. I never went hungry, just concentrated on eating the right healthy foods at the right time. After another 13 weeks, I lost another 6 kg (13.2 lbs) and a total of 55 cm (21.7 inches) off my vital statistics.
My daily walks were up to 1.5 – 2 hours and my husband was having difficulty keeping up with me! I felt the fittest I had ever felt in my life.
Nearly a year later
I have maintained by new weight within a kilo (2.2 lbs), despite having a nasty fall while out walking my dogs which put me out of action for over 2 months. As far as I am concerned, Healthy Inspirations has been a godsend and I have no intentions of going back to my old eating habits. As long as I keep up the healthy eating and exercise, there is no reason for me to put on any weight.
Hopefully, my story will encourage others to realize that there is a healthy way to lose weight and that they will take up the challenge in 2010.
