When I first decided to build web pages some years ago, like many others I used the free services that were available online. These services helped me to gain experience in building pages and I will always be grateful for their assistance in getting me started.

The basic problem with using free web page services is that I had to be prepared to put up with the advertisements of other advertisers on my uploaded pages. As well as distracting online viewers visiting my pages, there was always the question of page loading. Many of you will appreciate that if a page full of graphics, for example, takes ages to load, then any visitors will quickly move away from that particular site and you will lose a potential customer.

Programs are available that allow you to build web pages and websites completely free of advertisements. Of additional importance, these programs allow you to create pages with you needing to have limited html skills only. Html is not easy and for many newbies online it’s not something they want to take the time to learn. They are more anxious to get off to a flying start once they are online.

With my limited html skills, I found the Frontpage program easy to use. This program helped me to make what I thought were professional looking web pages. For a number of years I tried to improve my Alexa.com rating using Frontpage to make my web pages. (Alexa.com primarily rates a website in accordance with the traffic the website receives daily). No matter what I tried I couldn’t succeed in achieving less than around a 1,200,000 ranking. Time to try another tack, I thought eventually
